New workshops & demos are coming in October! Here are the complimentary events we will be hosting during this prime knitting month.
Meet other knitters, learn something new, refresh a skill or just take a breather.
Fisherman’s Rib Interactive Workshop
Saturday, October 7, 11am
Fisherman’s Rib is one of the most lovely textured stitches! It can be found in scarves, hats, cowls & sweaters. Take some time for yourself to relax & learn how to create the stitch. In this hands-on workshop, you will learn everything you ever wanted to know about Fisherman’s Rib such as how it differs from brioche, the increases & decreases, as well as how to knit it flat & in the round.
Homework & Supplies:
- Size US 8, 16” circular or straight needle
- Worsted weight yarn in a light color (easier to see stitches)
- Homework:
- Using favorite method, cast-on 15 stitches
- Row 1: Knit
- Row 2: Purl
- Repeat rows 1-2 until piece measures 1”
I-Cord Edging & Bind-off Interactive Workshop
Thursday, October 12, 6pm
I-cord makes for an attractive edge for many knit projects. Quite a few patterns also specifically call for an I-cord edge and/or bind-off. In this hands-on, interactive workkshop, you will learn what an i-cord is, when it is used, as well as tips & tricks. You will have an opportunity to do your own I-cord edge & bind-off! This is definitely a great technique to add to your repertoire.
Homework & Supplies:
- Size US 8, 16” circular or straight needle
- Worsted weight yarn in a light color (easier to see stitches)

Picking Up Stitches for Sock Heel Gussets Demonstration
Sunday, October 22, 11am
We love knitting socks, but picking up the stitches for the heel gusset can be tricky! Our retail team is here to help. In this demonstration, our knitting expert will show you how to execute clean & consistant picked up stitches. We will also go over “pick-up” vs. “pick-up & knit,” picking up 1 vs 2 legs & tips to avoid that pesky hole at the corner.

Mohair Effects Demonstration
Monday, October 30, 6pm
Everyone keeps talking about mohair & how amazing it is...what is all of the excitement about? See the magic of mohair & some of the amazing effects in this seriously fun demonstration. You will learn what mohair is, when it may be used, how to choose the right mohair for your project & tips for holding mohair with another yarn. See different mohair effects being knit, as well as inspirational examples.
