Hand dyed in Paris, France, each La Bien Aimée skein is truly a work of art. The unique color combinations are fun to knit with & gorgeous to wear. La Bien Aimée was created by Kansas native Aimée Gille. Aimée’s passion for knitting & yarn deepened when she moved to France & opened a knitting café. She then started dyeing her own yarn. In addition to incredible colorways, each of the fiber bases have a very soft hand & are lovely to knit.
Three bases have just arrived at Wool & Co. The first is single-ply, fingering weight La Bien Aimée Merino Singles. Spun with 100% superwash Merino wool, the yarn is lovely for shawls, wraps & garments. The extensive collection of interesting tonals, speckles & variegateds are fun to combine in fades or stripes.
We love the gorgeous shawl patterns by Nadia Crétin-Lechénne: Good Vibes & Happy Place. The combination of colors, textured stitches & lace is irresistible. Another stunning shawl pattern for Merino Singles is Road Trip by Veera Välimäki. The high contrast between colors gives this piece a bold, graphic look.
The next exciting La Bien Aimée base is Merino DK. This smooth, plied yarn is also spun with 100% superwash Merino wool. An incredibly soft & huggable yarn, Merino DK is wonderfully versatile. The Herringbone Toque by Tif Neilan is a flattering slouch hat that pairs well with knit pullovers & cardigans. The body of the hat is a gorgeous herringbone stitch. The hat is knit in both La Bien Aimée Merino DK & Corrie Worsted.
The third base is La Bien Aimée Corrie Worsted. Corrie Worsted is spun with 75% Corriedale wool sourced from the Falkland Islands. Corrie Worsted has wonderful stitch definition & blooms beautifully with blocking. The yarn is ideal for textured stitches, cables & stranded colorwork. Sweaters, cardigans & warm accessories knit up wonderfully in the collection of soft heathers.
