Stormy Waters Shawl by Ksenia Naidyon,
Freia Shawl Ball, color Ice Queen
We love a great ombre & Freia Shawl Balls deliver a beautiful effect. This week we are showcasing the Stormy Waters Shawl by talented designer Ksenia Naidyon. For our store sample we knit the shawl in Freia fingering weight Shawl Balls, color Ice Queen.
The scalene triangle shawl alternates garter sections with two different lace sections: a net stripe & lace stripe. Together, the sections give the shawl textural interest without taking away from the gorgeous color fades. Finish the shawl with optional tassles for a fun finish.
The shawl is easy to customize & knit larger or smaller. Gauge is also not terribly important as long as you like the fabric...just be sure that you have enough yarn to accommodate. The pattern also recommends you put aside the yarn for the tassels first to ensure you have enough at the end.
To knit the shawl, you will need the following materials:
- 2 Freia Shawl Balls or 420-600 yards of fingering weight yarn (we used all of 2 balls for our sample)
- Size US 9, 40” circular needle
*Tip: to keep the fade going when switching balls choose either to pull from the inside or outside based on where you are & how you want the color to transition.
The pattern is available on Ravelry.
