Feature Pattern of the Week - Vacation Knits with Isola

Coral by Amy Christoffers, Berroco Isola,
colors Sardinia & Capri
Vacation ready tops, tees & wraps have never looked or felt so nice. Designer Amy Christoffers was definitely channeling a tropical escape with her knitting pattern collection for Berroco’s aptly named Isola yarn.
The Italian word for “island,” Isola has a long ombre gradient that gives the cotton, linen & viscose blend a gorgeous color effect. Breezy knits have a subtle sheen & beautiful drape as each shade fades into the next.
Coral is a relaxed, short sleeve cardigan that can be worn over a favorite tank or tee. The sleeve length is both flattering & comfortable to wear. Worked with two colors of Isola to create a striped fade, the cardigan is knit in one piece to the underarm, then divided for the back & front.
Coral requires just 4-7 balls of DK weight Isola, as well as size US 3 & 5, 32” circular needles, US 3 double point needles & a spare US 5 needle for the three needle bind-off.
Finished Measurements & Yarn Quantity:

The collection continues with Keshi, a luxurious lace shawl that is worked in the round and cut open at the end! The cut stitches are then dropped and knotted to form the fringe. This fun piece requires 4 balls of Isola & a size US 6, 32” circular needle.
Mabe is a gorgeous lace yoke top that can easily transition from day to evening. It is knit top down & features an eyelet pattern that punctuates the beautiful color fade. It requires 4-6 balls of Isola, as well as size US 3 & 5, 32” circular & double point needles. The sample is knit in Elba, a stunning Caribbean blue.

Another staple of the collection is Ovaline, a classic knit tee with a twist. The yoke is worked sideways & then the stitches are picked up to work the body downward. This creates a cool & interesting play on color. Ovaline requires 4-7 balls of Isola, as well as size US 3, 16” circular needles + US 3 & 5, 32” circular needles.
